Now the Homestead is available for holiday letting and the owner Barbara generously invited me in to capture its beauty and homeliness. I could easily picture myself curled up on the couch in front of the fire wasting the day away but alas, I was there to work.
If 'doing nothing' is not your style, then there is horse riding, bush walking, waterfalls, a vineyard and plenty more to explore. You even have a cellar door metres from the back door so you don't have too far to go for a fantastic drop of the good stuff (red or white) - try the Lady Barbara Riesling. Delicious.
I've stayed on the property twice now. It's incredible. And with the Homestead now available you have the choice of a romantic weekend in the Lodge or take a bunch of friends and chill out at the Homestead. My tip - book early and just as the weather begins to cool so you make the most of the fire and the spectacular Autumn sunsets over the escarpment.
