Another day, another beautiful home to photograph. Rarely do I have the absolute pleasure of walking into a home and not have to touch or change a single detail before I photograph it. On this day however, I was blessed to arrive at the home of a lovely family of four to find the place perfectly styled and incredibly warm and inviting. It was a pleasure to photograph. So much so, I wanted to move in!
As we all know, it is the little things that make a house a home. A child's artwork framed, board games, shells collected on holidays and sealed in jars, all lovingly on display. Precious things that create lasting memories.
Bold use of colour doesn't have to overwhelm a room. Black and white can be stark, but with pops of red or yellow, these rooms felt instantly more inviting.
My work affords me the honour of being invited into people's houses and I'm constantly amazed at how creative people can be when decorating and furnishing their homes. Over the years, I've learnt it's the detail, the small touches that make all the difference. And it is these everyday, simple things that paint the picture of who lives there, where they have come from and where they are headed. So I thought I would share some of my favourites. I'd love to hear what you think makes a great room so feel free to comment below with your ideas and inspiration.
What a difference a little colour makes, especially in a nursery. Don't you just love the orange cot for a pop of colour?
What a simple way to add some glamour to the boudoir, with a dressed manikin.
There is no reason you why you can't have a few pockets of fun amongst the serenity of a bedroom surely?
Similar tones and patterns add interest but keep your look streamlined.
