how do I describe this family other than with complete admiration, love and gratitude for having met them. This was their second family portrait session with me, following the growth of their family from 3 to 4. They requested a simple, fun shoot in their home where they could be themselves, be together and just laugh. And boy did we laugh. How gorgeous are they? I feel forever blessed to have met Rebecca and her beautiful family.
I had the absolute pleasure recently of photographing this gorgeous family down at Howrah Beach. They were the winners of a voucher I donated to a fundraiser at Bellerive Primary School and I couldn't have imagined a more beautiful trio. This was, without question, one of the most enjoyable photo shoots I have ever been a part of. Both the boys and their stunning mum were so accommodating with every one of my crazy requests. Thank you Corinna and boys for a fantastic afternoon, one that was perfectly timed to remind me how blessed I am to do what I do.
Since moving to Tassie and meeting this beautiful lot, they have become more like family than close friends to me. So you can imagine how privileged I felt when I was asked to spend time with them taking some family photos. It was also made all the more special because Angie's mum and partner were here on holidays, all the way from Crete.
We had a fabulous, relaxing morning at the beautiful Hobart Botanical Gardens and by the smiles on the boy's faces at the end of our session, I think it might have been a success. But I'll let you be the judge….
What a brilliant year it has been both personally and professionally.
I have travelled all over Tasmania working in beautiful light and surrounded by awesome scenery. I have met incredibly generous and warm people. I've been invited to capture some of the most fantastic events. I was involved with a number of charities and fundraisers, giving away portrait sessions to three lovely families. And I have been welcomed into stunning homes and offices across the state.
Thank you all for being a part of light and shade photography's 2015. May 2016 be even more amazing for us all!

Best view from a bath….1st place
Some days I contemplate what else I might do for a job (albeit very infrequently). And then I just laugh at myself for even questioning it because I've arrived at a property like this. I'm so fortunate.
Two words : simply stunning. And how about that bath?! Wow. Total seclusion, peace and stunning scenery. Even better, you too can experience the luxury and beauty of this home. It's a holiday rental! And trust me, it's worth a visit.
For more information about this incredible property in Judbury, part of the Huon Valley in Tasmania, contact Homelands Property and tell them I sent you. Or you could just invite me to come along!
This beautiful family were the recipients of a free family portrait session which we conducted in the stunning Hobart Centennial Park. When I informed the family of their prize, little did I know just how stunning they were! The gorgeous sisters Sienna and Aliera are so totally different from one another, but so equally beautiful and very clearly, the best of friends. And they were especially helpful at making silly faces behind me to help mum and dad laugh!
It's been a busy few months here at light and shade photography with lots of beautiful homes and gorgeous families to photograph. I thought it would be a nice idea to showcase just a few of the 'details' that I capture when I am on a shoot. The smaller items that turn a house into a home. Enjoy...
Straight off the bat this little angel was always going to enjoy her photo session with mum and dad. She was at the beach after all. Water, sun, running free... What's not to love?
And straight off the bat I was trying to marry her off to my Jack! What a simply beautiful little girl Isabelle is, both inside and out. Have you ever seen a more gorgeous smile? It lights up her whole face. And doesn't she just adore her mummy and daddy….
This little trooper Lucas wasn't feeling too well on the day of the shoot, but he still managed some gorgeous smiles and cuddles with mum and dad. And why wouldn't he want to smile? He's going to be a big brother later this year! Doesn't mum just look divine?
Adventurer Charlie had so much fun exploring our location on this shoot. Splashing in the water, playing with Mitchy the family dog on the sand, and having tickles with mum and dad on the grass - everything was covered. And throughout the whole shoot this wonderful family just laughed. Especially Hollie, the gorgeous mum. Have you ever seen a more natural, beautiful smile?
